Scopus, the abstract and citations database for peer-reviewed literature operated by Elsevier, has published its annual report for 2022 on the performance of the more than 30,000 journals indexed by the database.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For\u00a0Nordicom Review<\/em>, Nordicom\u2019s international peer-reviewed journal devoted to new Nordic media and communications research, the report was a happy read. The CiteScore for 2022 increased from 2.1 to 2.5, which was a new record for the 43-year-old journal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The CiteScore reflects the yearly average number of citations to recent articles published in a journal. For the first time ever,\u00a0Nordicom Review<\/em>\u00a0now ranks among the top 30 per cent of the international journals indexed in the field of communications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2013 2022 was a very successful year for Nordicom Review<\/em>, with more submissions, more downloads, and more citations than ever before, says Johannes Bjerling<\/strong>, editor at Nordicom. <\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2013 Together with the consistently positive feedback we get from our contributing authors, we feel that our journal is developing in a very good direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n The communications field comprises over 500 indexed journals, a tally which is constantly rising and reveals the fierce competition in the world of academic publishing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Most journals are operated with either reader or author fees, and not seldom for profit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Nordicom Review<\/em> \u2013 in contrast \u2013 is published with full Open Access, without article processing charges, and under a CC license (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). This means that all articles can be downloaded and distributed freely.
