In Denmark, the study of news media usage is carried out by researchers at the Center for News Research at Roskilde University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"spacing--medium\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-l-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Insights from Sweden<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>General Media Use<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>96%&nbsp;of Swedes watched some form of&nbsp;moving image&nbsp;daily \u2013 the most consumed media category.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>84<strong>%&nbsp;<\/strong>used&nbsp;social networking services, surpassing both&nbsp;radio (78%)&nbsp;and&nbsp;newspapers (66%)&nbsp;in daily reach.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Radio Listening<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>54%&nbsp;listened to&nbsp;car radio, the most common radio platform.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>33%&nbsp;used a&nbsp;traditional radio set.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>29%&nbsp;listened to&nbsp;podcasts or on-demand radio, and&nbsp;23%&nbsp;to&nbsp;live web radio.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Video Viewing<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>90%&nbsp;watched TV (scheduled and streamed).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Scheduled TV&nbsp;reached&nbsp;51%, while&nbsp;streamed TV&nbsp;reached&nbsp;67%.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>YouTube&nbsp;was watched by&nbsp;47%, with&nbsp;16%&nbsp;watching over an hour daily.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Newspaper Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>66%&nbsp;read a daily newspaper; 58% digitally, 20% in print.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>53%&nbsp;read a morning paper;&nbsp;42%&nbsp;digitally,&nbsp;18%&nbsp;in print.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>43%&nbsp;read an evening paper; mostly digital.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Magazine Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>35%&nbsp;read a magazine daily.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>22%&nbsp;read in print.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>18%&nbsp;read digitally.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weekly and monthly magazines were equally popular (18%&nbsp;each daily).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Book Reading<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>51%&nbsp;read books daily.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>38%&nbsp;read print.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>15%&nbsp;listened to audiobooks.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>7%&nbsp;read e-books.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fiction&nbsp;was the most read genre.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Social Media<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Facebook&nbsp;was most used overall, except among youth (15\u201324), who favored&nbsp;Snapchat,&nbsp;Instagram, and&nbsp;TikTok.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>16%&nbsp;spent over&nbsp;2 hours&nbsp;daily on social media; 32% have heard a lot or something about it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Younger people (under 35) are more familiar with AI in journalism (53%), compared with 26% among those over 35.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>48% feel uneasy about journalism predominantly produced by AI; only 14% feel comfortable with it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>48% of 18\u201324-year-olds feel most comfortable with journalism where a journalist has used&nbsp;<em>some<\/em>&nbsp;AI assistance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Political journalism produced by AI is where trust is the lowest \u2013 47% feel uneasy, only 12% feel comfortable.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Trust and Factors Affecting Trust<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>57% trust news media in general (same as in 2023); 63% trust the media they personally use.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trust is relatively stable across political groups (56\u201362%).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>High journalistic standards (80%) and transparency (76%) are key factors strengthening trust.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Social Media Use and Concerns About Fake News<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>32% read news on Facebook, 10% on YouTube, 9% on Instagram. 45% don&#8217;t use social media for news.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Distinguishing real from fake news is hardest on TikTok (33%), X\/Twitter (26%), and Facebook (22%).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Concern about fake news has risen to 45% \u2013 the highest since 2018.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Main concerns: misinformation about politics, coronavirus, economy, Israel-Gaza conflict, and Ukraine war.<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>User Needs and Media Performance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Top reasons for using news media: staying updated (80%), learning (74%), getting diverse perspectives (68%), and civic engagement (57%).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Users feel media fall short, especially in offering&nbsp;different perspectives&nbsp;(only 45% feel this need is met).<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>Part II: Key News Usage Figures 2024<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Weekly News Media Usage<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>General decline from 2016\u20132023 has halted;
