We are delighted to announce that NordMedia25 has received a record-breaking 452 abstract submissions, the highest in the conference’s history!
We at the NordMedia Network and Nordicom are very happy to see that the NordMedia Conference continues to gain recognition, drawing an increasing number of researchers from across the Nordic region and beyond. This year, we are also thrilled to report a record 65 applications for the pre-conference for doctoral students – another milestone in participation.
– Given the strong interest in the pre-conference, we are looking into increasing the number of participants to at least 30 to meet the demand, says Maarit Jaakkola, leader of the doctoral pre-conference.
Thank you to everyone who submitted their work!
Submission status updates will be sent to all contributors by 14 April.
New Divisions and TWGs
The NordMedia 2025 Conference, hosted in Odense, is set to introduce fresh perspectives and more specialised discussions within the Nordic media research community. This year, we are excited to welcome newly established Temporary Working Groups (TWGs) and Divisions.
Reflecting the depth, impact, and growing significance of their research, the Media, Communication, and Health group, along with the Visual Communication and Culture group, have now transitioned into full Divisions.
Additionally, we are introducing two new TWGs:
- Media and Linguistic Minorities TWG – exploring media in minority and minoritised languages across the Nordic countries.
- Digital Technologies, Materiality, and the Environment TWG – examining the intersections of digital platforms, environmental responsibility, and social accountability.
