Call for Participants (Journalism Educators) for a Survey about Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Journalism Education

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a pervasive topic. We are reaching out to Nordic journalism educators to gather insights on this topical issue. We are keen to understand how Nordic journalism educators perceive the uses of AI in both journalism and education, exploring conducted initiatives and future plans.

We invite all Nordic journalism educators to participate in this initiative and take 8–10 minutes to respond to a brief online survey. We will send you the link in mail if you write to us: maarit.jaakkola@gu.se. We encourage you to complete the survey by February 19th at the latest.

Respondents don’t have to possess previous experience from teaching AI or any specific knowledge about AI. We are interested in the ideas and experiences of all lecturers and teachers who are somehow involved in journalism education at the Nordic academic institutions. The questions are in English, but you can answer to the open questions in your own mother tongue.

Your participation in this survey is entirely anonymous. The data collected will be used solely for research purposes and will be kept confidential.

If you are interested in the outcome of this survey, you can leave your e-mail address to us so we can get back to you inform you about the results here. We hope that our survey can provide your institution with essential information about the current state of AI pedagogies. Our aim is to contribute to the broader journalism education community, ensuring that the findings benefit the community at large.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to turn to us. In the meanwhile, we would like to make you aware of the newest UNESCO resource on AI in journalism education, Reporting on Artificial Intelligence: A Handbook for Journalism Educators (2023), which will soon be available in several languages.
