At the NordMedia conference in August 2019, Nordicom launches a new digital platform dedicated to Nordic media researchers. On the platform, you can present yourself and your research, find partners and keep up to date with the latest in Nordic media research, in a completely new Nordic context.
The platform offers a searchable and freely accessible database of Nordic and Nordic-oriented media and communication researchers. By creating a profile, you can present yourself and your research and find others who may be doing research in the same field or who may be interesting for you to get in touch with. As a registered user, you also enable others to find you. It may be other researchers, teachers, or students, but also people outside academia, such as journalists and policymakers, who want to get in touch with you as a media expert.
– Our aim is for the platform to solve what many Nordic and Nordic-oriented researchers have long sought, namely to take advantage of the Nordic context and make it more visible, says Nordicom’s director Jonas Ohlsson.
On the research platform, you can find information about conferences, academic events and vacant positions within the field, as well as submit information to be posted. In addition, the platform will contain news and tips about tools and working methods for skills development aimed at the Nordic media research community.
NordMedia Network
The new platform is called NordMedia Network and is closely linked to the Nordic media conference NordMedia, which is held every two years. It is a permanent home for the conference that will maintain the network during the time between conferences.
– This new platform opens up many opportunities and solves problems that the planning committee for NordMedia has had over the years. Getting the opportunity to have a common, permanent platform enables continuity, a base and a forum for Nordic media and communication researchers. In addition, each new planning group does not have to spend considerable resources on reinventing the wheel. Now, Nordicom will be the reliable wheel that drives NordMedia between the conferences, which makes me very happy, says Margareta Melin, conference manager for NordMedia19 and member of NordMedia’s planning committee since 2009.
The platform launches in connection with the NordMedia conference in Malmö, 21-23 August 2019, with the opportunity to register on-site.
NordMedia Network is part of Nordicom’s mission to support and disseminate Nordic media research. The platform is funded with the help from the Nordic Council of Ministers.
