Pre-launch of AfroMedia Network

On April 28 from 14:30 AfroMedia Network will be pre-launched as the new digital platform for African media researchers. The pre-launch will happen back-to-back with the webinar De-Westernising Media Literacy: Africa.

AfroMedia Network comes out of the project Preparing Media Practitioners for a Resilient Media in Eastern Africa, a six-year project started in 2021, funded by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation, NORAD, through the NORHED programme.

The project participants are Uganda Christian University, University of Rwanda, NLA University College (Norway) og University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa). The overall objective of the project is to develop expertise in Ugandan and Rwandan media that can contribute to increased democratization.

AfroMedia Network has taken inspiration from NordMedia Network, and the latter has assisted the project in the development phase of the new platform.

The official launch will take place at the research conference in Bujumbura, Burundi, in August later this year.
