This symposium aims to question the role of the media in the production of information about gender-based and sexual violence. Over the past twenty years, many disciplines have taken up the issue of gender-based violence, but it has not been much understood by researchers through the prism of its media coverage. This international symposium brings together some fifty speakers from different disciplinary and geographical backgrounds to discuss five themes: 1) the conditions of production of media content, 2) media representations of gender-based and sexual violence, 3) media circulation of testimonies, 4) prevention and awarenessraising mechanisms and discourse, 5) emotions and commitment in research work.
