Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics is currently seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher in Corporate Communication, for a fixed-term period of 4 years, starting on 1 September 2023 or thereafter upon agreement.
The focus of corporate communication discipline is on analyzing and explaining the dynamic interplay between organizations, traditional and digital media, and stakeholders. The corporate communication research group studies organizations in a broad sense, including corporations, small and medium businesses, non-governmental organizations, and public institutions, as well as pressure groups, social movements, and other informal and emerging forms of organizations. The current research areas of the corporate communication group broadly cover strategic communications of and for organizations, public sector communication, social marketing, social/corporate advocacy, digital communications, stakeholder relationship management and engagement, crisis and risk communication, and issue management.
The postdoctoral researcher’s tasks in corporate communication include research and publishing, planning research projects and applying for competitive external research funding. In addition, some teaching, coordination and supervision of theses are included.
Qualifications we are looking for
We are looking for an internationally oriented Postdoctoral Researcher in Corporate Communication. The research profile of the applicant is expected to match the JSBE (Jyväskylä School of Business and Economics) focus area Digital Business and Economy.
The Applicant must have a completed doctoral degree from corporate communication, strategic communication, public relations, or organizational communication. Degrees in other disciplines such communication science, journalism, digital marketing, media and communication studies or marketing are considered for the post only if the applicant’s research and eventual teaching experiences show clear indications (for example, scientific publications in corporate communication core journals, teaching corporate communication courses) of expertise in corporate communication, strategic communication, public relations, or organizational communication.
Previous teaching experience and additional experience in acquiring external research fundings related to this position are considered an advantage for the applicant. We value an ability to high-level publishing, experience in international research teams, and interest in teaching and supervision of master theses and the research work. Applicants with research interests or experiences in either news media and media relations, financial communication/investor relations and/or CSR/sustainability communication will receive high consideration. Furthermore, knowledge of quantitative research methods, computational analysis and/or data analytics are considered a plus.
The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a Postdoctoral Researcher are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines. According to Finnish law, a non-native university teaching and research staff member can be granted an exemption from the requirement of Finnish language proficiency. In this position, the Postdoctoral Researcher is expected to have excellent skills in English language.
The duties of Postdoctoral Researcher are expected to be carried out in Jyväskylä.

Salary is based on level 5-6 of the job requirement scheme for teaching and research staff in the salary system of Finnish universities. The starting salary will be between 3350-4400 EUR/month depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. A trial period of six months will be used at the beginning of employment.
