Postdoctoral Researcher in Digital News

The University of Stavanger invites applications for a Postdoctoral Fellow in Media Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Media and Social Sciences. The appointment is for 2 years and the position is vacant from 01.02.2020. The position is funded by Anderstiftelsen.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be associated with the project “The Digital News Agenda in Scandinavia”. The Postdoctoral project will contribute to fulfilling the goals of the project. Necessary competencies include political economy perspectives on media industries and media structures, digital journalism, media regulation, media ownership, and media markets. Particular emphasis will be given to candidates with competencies concerning Norwegian newspaper corporations and digitalization. Eligible candidates must have a PhD within the relevant areas, preferably from the last five years.

The objective of the position is to strengthen research and to give researchers/scholars holding a doctoral degree within relevant academic fields the opportunity for further qualification toward full professorship.

The research project will be carried out at the University of Stavanger. It is assumed that the appointee will work full time on the project and that she/he will participate in the academic community at the faculty and university.
