Department
The School of Arts and Communication is part of the multidisciplinary Faculty of Culture and Society. Also known by its acronym K3 (after the Swedish name Konst, Kultur och Kommunikation), our school has approximately 80 faculty members and 1,000 full-time students. We offer undergraduate and postgraduate education in the fields of media, interaction design and cultural studies. Our programmes and courses include English, Media and Communication Studies, Cultural Journalism, Visual Communication, Interaction Design as well as a range of courses in different types of media production. At K3, we combine traditional scholarship and academic knowledge with artistic methods and practical skills. Research at K3 is multi- and interdisciplinary, and is known internationally for contributing foundational knowledge and practical application to the fields of design, media, culture and the arts. Our researchers are active in research platforms such as Medea, Collaborative Future Making and Rethinking Democracy as well as the Internet of Things and People research centre and the Data Society research programme. K3 research is frequently carried out in collaboration with external stakeholders.
Content and work responsibilities
To participate in a research project which explores how libraries can act as a hub for citizen based innovation of public e-services. The research includes desktop research on best practices and interviews on libraries current work and future opportunities. A large part of the work will consist of concrete development of public services together with citizen groups and libraries and evaluation thereof. The teaching part of the position (20%) will be performed in courses relating to service design and/or co-design.
Qualifications
The candidate must have completed a doctoral degree or a foreign degree considered equivalent with a doctoral degree. The employment is primarily relevant to candidates who have completed their doctoral degree no less than three years before the application period for the position of postdoc has expired. Under special circumstances, the doctoral degree may have been completed at an earlier date. Special circumstances constitute time off because of illness, parental leave, clinical practice, union duties or other similar circumstances.
Required qualifications:
- Completed PhD within the fields of Interaction design, Service design or other disciplines of relevance for the position
- Ability to work independently in research projects
- Good communication skills in English and creativity in service design and co-design
Desired qualifications:
- Documented experience of working with open data and visualization
- Fluency in Swedish
Assessment criteria
Accordning to the Appointment Rules at Malmö University, the assessment crieteria for a position as postdoctor are:
- The quality and focus of the doctoral thesis
- Research activities within fields relevant to the appointment in question
- Documented ability to independently conduct research of a sufficient standard
- Reflective presentation of their own pedagogical outlook and practices
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate with actors in other parts of society with a connection to education and research
