We are looking to employ a research engineer, full-time for 6 months, at the department for Sustainable development, environmental science and engineering (SEED), division of Sustainability assessment and management. The division develops and applies assessment methods and analyse the effects of decisions from a social and environmental perspective.
Job description
The position includes research (90%) and teaching (10%).
The research is conducted within a recently started project on life cycle assessment (LCA) and media production, as a collaboration between KTH and Stockholms Konstnärliga Högskola (SKH)/Stockholm University of the Arts (Uniarts). The work is led by the project coordinator at KTH and a media researcher at Uniarts. The research project includes the following work tasks:
- compile and evaluate methods and tools for integrating life cycle perspective in sustainability assessment of media production and related fields, based on existing methods and in collaboration with media researchers design tools for simple planning and follow-up of climate budgets at an individual level in media production,
- follow students and their production process in film & media at Uniarts, to propose how tools for climate budget can be integrated in their education
The teaching includes work as course assistant in a course on LCA, design of a project proposal for a master’s degree project at KTH within the research project, and participate as assistant supervisor when starting up a degree project performed as a case in education in media production at Uniarts.

Qualifications
We are looking for applicants with a completed advanced degree in strategies for sustainable development, industrial ecology, or related fields. In particular with an emphasis on environmental systems analysis and decision support.
You should have completed at least 7.5 hp in LCA and performed your degree project with applications of LCA, through which you have proven the ability to independently search for and evaluate LCA data, make well founded methodological choices, report and interpret results.
For participation in the research project, experience of developing IT-based environmental decision support tools is meritorious. Experience of work in the sustainability field with different stakeholders in organisations and companies is also meritorious, in particular collaboration with or otherwise good knowledge of media production.
For participation in education, experience of administrative course work (for instance development of course web in Canvas, coordination, student contacts) is meritorious.
Good knowledge of English in speech and writing is a requirement, in Swedish is a merit.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal competence and suitability.
