Jyväskylä University School of Business and Economics (JSBE) is currently seeking to recruit staff to the position of
SENIOR LECTURER in Corporate Communication, specializing in Media and Digital Communications. The position is permanent, starting from 1 August 2022, or as agreed.
The Senior Lecturer will be part of the Corporate Communication discipline, specializing in Media and Digital Communications, contributing to digital content creation, media ethics, misinformation or alternatively financial communication. We are looking for a person whose field of research is linked to the Digital Business and Economy, which is one of the faculty´s focus areas in its research (Digital Business and Economy, Sustainable Business and Economy and Policy-Relevant Economics and Competitiveness of Economy).
The main duties of Senior Lecturer include teaching and research in the field of Digital content creation and Digital Communications. Teaching tasks include high-quality research-based teaching and guidance related to the field of the discipline at the levels of basic, subject, and advanced studies, including supervising bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral theses.
The person selected for the position is expected to actively participate in the development of teaching as well as acquire external research funding.
Qualifications we are looking for
The applicant is required to have a relevant doctoral degree in communication studies or related areas for example digital communication, corporate communication, strategic communication, journalism studies, financial communication, media studies or digital marketing communication. The application is expected to provide evidence of high-quality academic research work published in leading journals and extensive experience in international teaching and supervision of master´s theses.
Experience in teaching and research tasks related to the JSBE´s earlier mentioned focus area “Digital Business and Economy” is considered an advantage for the applicant. Also, relevant competences and evidence of high quality research work advancing the subject area of digital media, content creation, storytelling, media ethics or mis- and disinformation are considered an advantage.
Previous professional experience related to content production, journalistic writing, storytelling, and ethics related to this position are considered a benefit for the applicant. We value an ability to high-level publishing and experience from international research teams.
The duties, qualification requirements and language skills of a Senior Lecturer are stipulated by the University of Jyväskylä Regulations and language skills guidelines.
The person selected for this position is expected to teach in Finnish and/or in English. According to the Finnish law, a non-native lecturer/research staff member can be granted an exemption from the requirement of Finnish language proficiency. In this position, the Senior Lecturer is expected to have excellent skills in English language. The position is full time located in Jyväskylä, where contact teaching takes place.

The annual salary range will be approximately 40.000 – 64.000 EUR (gross income, including holiday bonus), depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate. A trial period of six months will be used in the beginning of the employment.
