Professor Eugenia Siapera will present the keynote lecture at NordMedia 2021 in August. Siapera is a professor and head of the School of Information and Communication Studies at University College Dublin (UCD). She is also the director of the newly established Centre for Digital Policy. Her research interests are in the area of digital media and cultural diversity, digital politics, digital journalism, digital inequalities, online hate speech, racism and misogyny. Her work has been funded by the European Commission, the Irish Research Council, Science Foundation Ireland, Broadcasting Authority of Ireland, and HERA. Siapera is the author of two single-authored books, four edited volumes, and numerous book chapters and journal articles. Her most recent book is the second edition of Understanding New Media (Sage, 2018) and the edited volume Gender Hate Online (with Debbie Ging, Palgrave, 2019). She is the editor of the journal Online Information Review (with Kalpana Shankar).
