Bertrand Chavarria-Aldrete, Ph.D.

Bertrand Chavarría‑Aldrete is a composer, guitarist, and artistic researcher affiliated with the Malmö Academy of Music, Lund University. He holds a PhD in Music Performance from Lund University, where his doctoral research developed Plastic Extension of Music, an artistic research framework exploring how embodied musical performance knowledge can be translated into visual, tactile, and spatial forms.
His research operates through practice‑based and pedagogical experimentation, investigating sound as a medial and material phenomenon beyond canonical performance formats. Current work engages alternative modes of communication, object‑based learning, and inclusive artistic practices, including research with deaf and visually impaired participants.
