As an architect/anthropologist U. Michigan dissertation was on ritual patterns in medieval farms in Norway. Recent work expands scale to "close-map" accurate historical or prehistorical patterns positioning and orienting built form in relation to azimuth directions to significant natural landscape features. Grandmother's father was from Gjermstad farm in Verdal, Trondelag. Daughter is associate professor in Scandinavian Department, University of Washington, Seattle.
