Mehmet Fatih Çömlekçi, Associate Professor

I am an associate professor at Kırklareli University's Department of Audiovisual Techniques and Media Production. My main research areas are climate journalism, social movements, political communication, and polarisation in the digital sphere. I am one of the leaders and researchers of COST Action 22165, Redressing Radical Polarisation: Strengthening European Civil Spheres Facing Illiberal Digital Media (DepolarisingEU). At the moment I'm working with Prof. Karoline Andrea Ihlebæk to map depolarisation initiatives in Nordic countries and Turkey, within the COST Action. Recently I granted for a short-term scientific mission in OsloMet in August-September under the supervision of Prof. Ihlebæk. The title of my granted research is "Civil society and news media interventions for depolarisation: Mapping the initiatives in Nordic countries". Also, during my research on fact-checking organizations which published in International Journal of Communication, I interviewed practitioners of fact-checking organizations Faktisk/Tenk (Norway) and Faktabaari (Finland).
