Ole Johnny Fossås is a PhD student at the Department of Media Studies. He holds a MA in Film Studies from Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and a BA and MA in Biology from University of Bergen. Ole Johnny's PhD project focuses on Scandinavian industrial films commissioned by mining companies. Through combining methods of non-theatrical film research and ecocinema approaches, films made post-WW2 are analysed for their aesthetic approach concerning nature and human relations. The development of the representation of the role of mining in the environment is also investigated.
