I am Panos Achtsioglou, Head Programmer at the Thessaloniki International Film Festival and collaborator with the Onassis Foundation’s film and cultural initiatives. My academic background combines a Master’s Degree in Film and Contemporary Audiovisual Media and a Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Culture and Media (Film track) from the University of Groningen, alongside earlier studies in Medicine.
My research interests focus on film phenomenology, spectatorship, the poetics of cinema, and the interplay between film form, perception, and affect. Recently, I have developed a strong interest in the intersection of film and bioethics, particularly concerning cinematic representations of real acts of violence, trauma, and the ethical responsibilities of filmmakers.
I am preparing for doctoral studies in Cinema and Media Studies, with the aim of contributing to interdisciplinary debates that bridge film theory, aesthetics, and ethics.
