About

My research is about journalistic media created for, with and by children, and in a broader sense how children participate in public spheres, and for that matter create their own counterpublic spheres.

In my PhD study, children's participation in the public sphere is seen as ontologically entangled in social, cultural, environmental and technological assemblages, both material and discursive, and inquires how this will have a bearing on understanding the emergence of children's public life. I explore this in news-making workshops with children between the ages of 9 to 12, where topics of children's interest will be communicated via journalistic production and communication to the wider public sphere. The project's posthumanist theorization aims to expand our knowledge of the contingent reality of children's communication practices in the public sphere.
