About

I am a Research Fellow with DDMAC (Decoding Digital Media in African regions of Conflict) project and a Ph.D Candidate in Journalism and Media Studies, and affiliated with the research group MEKK (Media, War, and Conflict) at OsloMet University, Norway.
The focus of my research is on disinformation and fact-checking in times of conflict and authoritarian contexts. More specifically, I am researching the role of disinformation in the conflicts in Ethiopia and Mali and the contribution of fact-checking organizations in the fight against disinformation in the context of shrinking press freedom.
I hold a Masters Degree in Defence Peace and Security and a B.A in journalism. Before joining DD-MAC project, I worked for Africa Check, a fact-checking organization working on tackling misinformation and promoting media literacy in Africa.
