I am currently finalizing my PhD dissertation on journalists' epistemological beliefs and contestations over journalistic truth. The dissertation studies the independent podcasting sphere on YouTube as a case to study how the concept of truth is evoked to challenge the epistemic authority of journalism as a truth-teller. The dissertations partakes in this so-called metajournalistic discourse of truth by extending the criticism deriving from social media and independent podcasts to empirically examine the conceptions of journalistic knowledge and truth among legacy media journalists.
