OsloMet educates students and conducts research that contributes to the sustainability of the Norwegian welfare state and the metropolitan region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Faculty of Social Sciences offers study programmes within archivistics, library and information science, journalism and media studies, social work, social policy and child welfare, public management and business.<br><br>The faculty has about 4200 students and nearly 280 members of staff.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Department of Journalism and Media Studies has approximately 450 students and 30 employees. Study programmes and research are closely connected and exhibit our international profile.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Department of Journalism and Media Studies,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oslomet.no\/en\/about\/sam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Faculty of Social Sciences<\/a>&nbsp;(SAM) OsloMet has a vacancy for two temporary PhD Research Fellows. The positions are connected to the PhD programme at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.oslomet.no\/en\/about\/sam\/jm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Department of Journalism and Media Studies<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The department of Journalism and Media Studies is looking for candidates with an interest in and the potential to contribute to the development of research on journalism media production, and communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Area of research<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Applicants should have research interests that resonate with&nbsp;ongoing research and educational activities at the department. Through their application letter and project proposal, candidates are expected to demonstrate how they will contribute to the enhancement of one or more of the following research areas:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>artificial intelligence in the media sector<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>journalism and media in war and conflict<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>press freedom and safety of journalism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00abbig tech\u00bb and platform power<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>media industries and production<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>digital journalism<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>polarization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>media narration across text, image and sound<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>science journalism and climate\/environmental journalism and communication<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>media practices, audience relations and transformations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the development of research methodology and\/or relevant skills related to journalism and media studies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The appointments are for a period of 3 years, in special cases a 4 year\u2019s period with 25% teaching and administrative duties may be negotiated. PhD Research Fellows must be admitted by the Faculty of Social Sciences&#8217; PhD programme and will benefit from the faculty\u2019s organized research training.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The successful fellow is expected to pursue independent research under supervision, based on the project proposal. The position requires participation in the Faculty of Social Sciences&#8217; organised research education programme (PhD programme).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Project proposal<\/strong><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project proposal must consist of a maximum of 10 pages, positioning your project, and giving a description of your planned research. You must have completed a master&#8217;s degree of 120 ECTS in Journalism and Media Studies, and\/or fields relevant to the specialisations in the PhD programme.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A completed master&#8217;s degree of 90 ECTS may be considered as a basis for admission if your master&#8217;s degree contains an independent work with a master&#8217;s thesis of at least 30 ECTS. In addition, one of the following three criteria must be met:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Advanced methodological knowledge in the form of completed master&#8217;s course or documented exam in methods \/ theory of science at master&#8217;s level<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a0A Scientific article assumed in a peer-reviewed journal and\/or book article in a peer-reviewed book<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relevant research experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A grade B or better on the master\u00b4s thesis and an average grade B or better for the master\u00b4s degree.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong research interest in one or more of the above research areas<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Very good analytical skills Proficiency in both written and spoken English. A good command of a Scandinavian language is an advantage but not a requirement<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition, experience from research projects and publishing in academic journals will be an advantage. Foreign diplomas must be translated into English by the degree-conferring institution. Education taken abroad should preferably be recognised in advance by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nokut.no\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NOKUT<\/a>, and a confirmed copy of the letter of recognition should be enclosed.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your master&#8217;s degree\/second degree thesis (and any other scholarly work that you wish the expert committee to take into consideration) and a list of your publications, if relevant<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You must upload all of these documents.
