Welcome to the Annual Environmental Communication Conference: The Politics of Disagreement, happening on April 23, 2026, in Uppsala, Sweden.
In the 2026 edition of the Environmental Communication Conference, we join forces and zoom in on the politics of disagreement in environmental governance and sustainability work at local, regional and national levels, and discuss possible impacts on environmental communication scholarship and action.
We invite researchersfrom any disciplineworking on and interested in the communication and governance of environmental and sustainability issues, as well as practitioners working in this area.We especially encourage submissions from doctoral students and early career researchers. The conference is open toanyone else interested in the questions addressed here,includingpolicymakers,communicatorsandartistsinterested in this research field.
We welcome empirical, theoretical and methodological research contributions as well as practice contributions drawing on a diverse range of perspectives that explore the many facets of the politics of disagreement in environmental communication.
