NordMedia23 is extremely popular – the conference will have more physical attendees than any other NordMedia conference it the series’ fifty-year history.
By the end of early-bird registration, 371 scholars had registered for NordMedia23. This makes the conference the largest NordMedia conference after the digital conference in 2021. There is still a month left to register, but the organisers have decided on a maximum of 420 participants, for capacity and safety reasons, and registration will close early when this number is reached. The registration will close at the latest on 31 July.
A larger share of participants than normal would like to attend the conference dinner on Thursday night, and the places quickly filled up. This has disappointed some participants who were looking forward to mingling and networking with their peers.
However, the programme has spaces for several opportunities for chitchat and making new acquaintances amongst conference participants: There will be a reception in Media City Bergen on Wednesday evening, and the Future Fest fair also provides the opportunity for mingling and discussion amongst the attendees. And naturally, coffee breaks and lunches also offer time to network.
The organisers are looking into the possibility of establishing a “conference bar”, where conference participants can network outside the programme during the late hours.
