Professor of Communications Ethics

The University of Eastern Finland is inviting applications for a Professor of Communications Ethics position in the degree programme in Communication Studies, which will be launched in autumn 2026. The position will be filled  from 1 August 2026 or as agreed. Please find more information below and submit your application no later than 31 Mars 2026.  
Role and salary
As our new Professor of Communications Ethics, you will be working in the School of Humanities at the Philosophical Faculty. The position is located in Joensuu, Finland.   
The position will be filled from 1 August 2026 or as agreed. A probationary period is applied to all new members of the UEF staff.   
The salary of the position is determined in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities and is based on levels 8 – 11 of the job requirement level chart for teaching and research staff (5 471.95 – 8 063.25 euros/month). In addition to the job requirement component, the salary includes a personal performance component, which may be a maximum of 50 % of the job requirement component.

The Philosophical Faculty operates on the Joensuu Campus of the University of Eastern Finland. The faculty trains professionals and experts in the fields of the humanities, education, psychology and theology. In addition to four academic schools, the faculty comprises a teacher training school intended for supervised teaching practice and for the development of teacher training. The faculty’s research activities are multidisciplinary and theoretically and methodologically diverse, and they are closely linked to the university’s strategy. The faculty has approximately 4,000 Bachelor’s and Master’s degree students and some 340 postgraduate students. The staff amounts to 450 persons, including the staff of the teacher training school.
