About the division
TheAbout the division
The Media Industries Division is a forum for scholars that study media industries. The division serves as a meeting place for scholars who study the production of all kinds of media content in the Nordic countries and beyond, where we can present and discuss on-going and finalised research efforts as well as initiate future projects and collaborations. This includes – but is not necessarily limited to – the industries that produce content for television, film, radio, podcast, journalism, books, music, video games, online media, social media, and advertising. The division invites scholars to reflect on the production, organisation, management, economy, policy, and culture of media industries, focusing on legacy media institutions and/or new players. We encourage submissions that contribute with diverse or comparative perspectives, reflect on theoretical or methodological challenges in this field of research, and try to challenge long-lived myths about media industries.
This division accepts full papers, long abstracts, panel presentations, and workshops. Discussants will be appointed to papers and long abstracts, but the division also assumes that participants in the same panel will read each other’s papers to inform the discussion during the panel.
