Do you want to write about current Nordic media research?
Are you interested in practicing journalistic writing in English?
Do you want to obtain references in web journalism and scientific communication?
NordMedia Network is continuously looking for contributing authors. Our “Featured Articles” are written in English on a journalistic basis and published on this site (see News at the front page).
These more in-depth articles can address, for example, the following categories:
- Feature: reports on current phenomena in the research community
- Personal portrait: interviews with researchers
- Visual storytelling: videos, podcasts, visualisations, and interactive graphics
For some examples, see https://nordmedianetwork.org/latest/news/
Academics contributing articles as part of our network of media and communication scholars are not compensated, though instructions and support, including proofreading before publication, will be provided. You are welcome to submit your ideas to editors@nordmedianetwork.org
Non-academic professional freelancers may be compensated 1,500–2,000 Swedish kronor depending on the length of the article and how much work it requires, for example, the level of editing and proofreading needed. Ideas can be pitched to the editors, who decide whether the article is developed further in collaboration. You may also be contacted with an invitation to write a specific article. If you are interested, please sign up for our freelance network with editor-in-chief Maarit Jaakkola, maarit.jaakkola@nordicom.gu.se. Please indicate which special areas you are most knowledgeable about and interested in: a) person-driven projects, b) feature writing about phenomena, c) visual development, d) other.
