This seminar explores creative methods in digital disconnection research: creating writings, drawings and mixed methods
Time and place: Apr. 29, 2025 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Zoom – digital
About the seminar
The seminar explores creative methods in (dis)connection studies. How can creative writing and artistic expressions contribute to a deeper understanding of sentiments and experiences?
Borbála Timár talks about using the Love and Breakup Letter Method to explore personal emotions, experiences and ambivalence towards digitalization. Rather than asking people directly about their emotions, users are asked to write a love letter or breakup letter addressed to devices or technologies.
Victoria A. E. Kratel talks about how women in emerging adulthood envision a more ideal relationship with technology, using arts-related inquiry: drawings and written text. The creative expressions are combined with interviews, allowing for deeper exploration of the participants’ imaginations.
