About

I am a junior research fellow in media studies at the Baltic Film, Media, and Arts School at Tallinn University, Estonia. With a background in human rights advocacy and communication, I research the relationships between media engagement and civic participation as well as intergroup relations and social justice. As a qualitative researcher, I explore perceptions and practices across complex social worlds.

In my PhD thesis about the influence of mediated contact on civic participation, I explore audience experiences with media, civic engagement, and civic participation on the general societal, group, and individual level.

In addition to engaging in PhD research, I teach a course on media theories and have worked on admission, defense, attestation, and academic hiring committees. My PhD research also contributes to the Horizon Europe project Mapping Media for Future Democracies which investigates the role of media in the state and the strengthening of democracy (www.medemap.eu).
