Oslo, 30-31 October 2025: Infrastructure Sovereignty in the Nordics: Risks, Dependencies, and Societal Resilience of Communication in Digital Welfare Wtates. Network event.

The Nordic Network for Communication Infrastructure Research gathers researchers from across Nordic universities who study data, platforms, and infrastructures in a Nordic context. The upcoming meeting, hosted by OsloMet, is the third event of the network and will focus on questions of digital sovereignty.

For small democratic nations with open economies, the dependence on foreign technology providers in communication industries raises critical concerns about the risks and vulnerabilities of digital infrastructure. As complete sovereignty risks turning isolationist, Nordic collaboration becomes vital to safeguard the resilience of democracy in the region.

The event will serve as a platform for sharing ongoing research and engaging in dialogue with representatives from the internet and media industries.
