In 2023, Nordicom launched the Nordic Media Policy newsletter and revamped the European Media Policy newsletter, both of which have garnered considerable attention, amassing hundreds of subscribers. If you haven’t already, subscribe today to stay informed on crucial developments in media policy.
Nordicom publishes two newsletters focused on European and Nordic media policy, respectively. The European Media Policy newsletter offers comprehensive coverage of EU news, encompassing legislative proposals, parliamentary debates, and forthcoming political decisions.
– In 2023, we revamped the European Media Policy newsletter, states Jonas Ohlsson, Director of Nordicom. We introduced a new format and welcomed Natacha López, a freelance Swedish journalist based in Brussels, as our new editor. Natacha’s specialisation in EU affairs adds depth and expertise to our content. Additionally, the newsletter sheds light on media policy issues within the Council of Europe and on the international stage.
On the other hand, the Nordic Media Policy newsletter reports on media policy developments in the Nordic countries and at the Nordic regional level. It presents new legislative proposals, parliamentary debates, and new media policy decisions and initiatives. Edited by Tobias Lindberg, a researcher at Nordicom, the newsletter also highlights new reports and studies in the media field from the Nordic countries. Launched in 2023, it has already attracted hundreds of subscribers.
Explaining the rationale behind the Nordic Media Policy newsletter, Ohlsson states:
– We recognised the importance of also focusing on national policies to provide a comprehensive understanding of the political framework shaping the media environment in the Nordic region.
Ohlsson further underscores:
– Our collaboration with the Nordic Council of Ministers drives the initiative behind both newsletters, aiming to disseminate knowledge about the media landscape in the Nordic region.
