Nordicom has a job opening for a managing editor to join their Norwegian branch, placed at the University of Bergen. The managing editor will be responsible for managing the daily tasks on the Nordmedia Network platform. Relevant competence in communication research and good knowledge in the field and digital media is required. Is this the opportunity you have been looking for?
We are now searching for a new managing editor who would take care of daily management and development tasks on the platform. The managing editor prepares editorial content and runs the platform, as well as its social media channels, in collaboration with the editorial team.
Along with content curation and development of the NordMedia Network platform, the position, placed at the Department of Information Science and Media Studies at the University of Bergen, includes tasks related to collaborating with Nordic research associations and networks, disseminating Norwegian media and communication research, as well as contributing input for hearings and policy briefs.
– The best part of the job is to be able to plunge into the Nordic researcher community and follow what’s happing in Scandinavia and surroundings, says Irmelin Wilhelmsen Nilsen, who worked as the managing editor until February 2023.
– There is also an excellent possibility to be able to develop digital research communication in many different ways, ranging from information architecture and database structures to formats and ways of addressing scholarly audiences in new and innovative ways.

NordMedia Network, run by Nordicom, is the Nordic platform for media and communication researchers. It serves as a source for inspiration, information, and interaction for media and communication researchers from, or with a research interest in, the Nordic region.
Nordicom, a centre for Nordic media research at the University of Gothenburg, operates NordMedia Network along with publishing two scientific journals and scholarly books and preparing statistics on and analyses of Swedish and Nordic media development and media policy.
